Agency Descriptions 

 

Adult Handicap Program –The program strives to enrich the lives of adults with disabilities in Eaton County by providing regular opportunities for recreation, socialization, and fellowship.  Lcobb@eaton.k12.mi.us

 

American Red Cross, Mid-Michigan Chapter – Prevents, prepares for and responds to emergencies through disaster services, health and safety education, blood collection, armed forces emergency services and food distribution.

 

Boy Scouts of America, Chief Okemos Council – to benefit the youth of Eaton County by providing the Scouting programs they need to learn good values, make right choices, and achieve their potential.

 

CASA for Kids, Barry/Eaton County – CASA provides volunteer advocates to work independently for the best interest of children who have been removed from their homes in cases of abuse and/or neglect.

 

Charlotte Community Nursery Preschool – The Preschool is a Co-Operative, serving the needs of preschool –aged children by offering them experiences adapted to the needs of their different developmental stages.

Courthouse Square Association – Courthouse Square Association preserves, collects, interprets and promotes the history of Eaton County through permanent and temporary exhibits and educational programming.

 

Eaton Area Senior Center – Where seniors can come together for services and activities that support their dignity, independence, involvement with the community, and provide a focal point on aging.

 

Eaton Clothing & Furniture Center – The Center provides good, clean, gently used clothing, furniture and household items at no cost, once a month to those in need in the Eaton County area.

 

Eaton Community Hospice – Providing physical, emotional and spiritual care, at no cost, to terminally ill patients and their families in their home or at our Hospice House.  echospice@voyager.net

Girl Scouts of Michigan Capital Council – Girl Scouts seek to empower girls by helping them develop to their fullest potential with an emphasis on character development, patriotism and service.

 

House of Ruth - A home for adult men with developmental disabilities in Eaton County. It offers a living environment that provides structure, support and meets individualized needs.

 

Housing Services for Eaton County – Offers case management and direct funding services to prevent homelessness including follow-up, rental subsidy for people with disabilities, and a down payment assistance program.

 

Mobile Meals Inc. of Charlotte – to furnish meals for shut-ins, convalescents, crippled or other persons unable to adequately care for themselves at the lowest possible cost at their own home.

 

SIREN/Eaton Shelter – SIREN/Eaton Shelter provides emergency shelter, transitional housing, crisis counseling and other support services to homeless families and battered women and children in Eaton County.

 

Woldumar Nature Center – Providing high quality programs and opportunities to experience and explore the natural environment, learn effective natural resources stewardship and promote, respect our common cultural heritage.
